Plano Texas Homes

Plano Texas homes are some of the most popular in Texas. Currently there are more than 1500 homes for sale in Plano Texas.

Buyers can narrow their search by looking for specific neighborhoods, such as West Plano Texas homes, which includes neighborhoods like Willow Bend.

The best first step, however, whether you are buying or selling is to look for a good Realtor®, one who is experienced and familiar with the area. Here we provide a little practical information both about selecting a Realtor® and a few facts about the desirability of the Plano area.

The area around Plano has been settled continuously since the early 1840’s, but did not experience large growths in population until the 1970’s and 80’s. During the 80’s, several large corporations, including JC Penney and Frito Lay, moved their headquarters to Plano, making Plano Texas homes popular for employees who wanted to live near their workplace.

Residential developments began to spring up. The population doubled in the following ten years and nearly doubled again by the year 2000. The population is now expected to stabilize, as there is little undeveloped land within the city limits. But, new homes are still available. The MLS listings, a nationwide electronic database for real estate, currently shows over 3000 new homes for sale in Plano Texas and nearby.

Although not a separate city, the area that is commonly referred to as West Plano is the area west of the city’s center, near Preston Road. East Plano homes are located, obviously on the other side of the city. Homes for sale in Plano Texas could be located anywhere within the 71 square miles that the city encompasses.

A Realtor® that is experienced with the area can help you identify the best neighborhood to shorten your commute, put you near the parks, the country clubs or wherever your interests lead you.

Many West Plano homes, particularly those in Willow Bend, are upscale luxury homes. Near Headquarters Drive, the location of numerous corporate campuses, including Perot Systems, Willow Bend is a planned community with custom designed homes on large lots. The Shops at Willow Bend, an upscale mall with over 100 stores, is a popular destination for residents and business travelers alike.

If you live in West Plano and you are thinking of selling your home, you may want to consider a Realtor® who is a Luxury Home Marketing Specialist. These Realtors® have had additional education in effectively marketing luxury homes.

Likewise, if you are in the market for West Plano homes, the LHMS designation tells you that this Realtor® is experienced with the attributes of luxury homes. It costs the buyer nothing extra to contact a Realtor® to represent his or her interests in a real estate transaction and much time can be saved. The buyer usually pays the closing costs and the seller pays the Realtor®. Typically, if two agents are involved in the transaction, they split the commission.

Currently the median price of homes for sale in Plano Texas is $237,500. But the range of prices is as diverse as the city itself, starting at under $100,000 for many East Plano Texas homes and going up to several million for some of the West Plano Texas homes.
